The
Presence of Sweden in Brazil In the year of 1822, Brazil left of being colony of Portugal and proclaimed the Republic. In day 7 of September of 1922, president Epitácio Pessoa, in way to a festival of commemorations to the centenarian of Independence, inaugurated, officially, the International Exposition of Rio De Janeiro, that she aimed at to attract pounds and dollar for Brazil. Monumental building, to shelter stands of 14 countries and all the Brazilian states, had been constructed in two contiguous areas, that if had extended of the Monroe Palace to the Market of Square (Praça XV) and that they had sheltered the samples of the main Brazilian products. In this night, after the “Te Deum Laudamus” celebrated in the cathedral Metropolitan, all the Palaces of the Exposition and the ships anchored in the port had illuminated the sample in an immense flash of magnificence and beauty. By the loudspeakers of the exposition it was transmitted, directly of the Municipal Theater, opera “O Guarani” from Carlos Gomes. Portentous work of art, the exposition of 22 decorated the capital for 7 months, up to 23 of March of 1923. They had been the following countries, that had participated of this exposition: Argentina, North America, Belgium, Denmark, France, England, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Norway, Sweden and Czechoslovakia.
